Next month, PlayerUnknown’s Battlefield gets its first full – size map in almost three years, featuring a new area, Teigo.
Announced last month as the first of two new maps, Taego (formerly the Tiger Project) is the first 8×8 km map added to PUBG since Miramar, the first map added after the game. Since PUBG has added quite a few arenas, but they have become smaller – Which forces players to more compact 4×4 and 6×6 battlefields.
However, what is more interesting than the scale is that Taego will present the response to PUBG for the first time. Popular by Apex Legends and adopted by Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG finally gave up adding a mechanic back.
How this works remains to be seen. But, as identified by PCGamesN, one of the PUBG tools suggested that PUBG could adopt a “Warzone”, in which players fight for a chance to return. Take this with a pinch of salt as it comes from translated speculation from Korean players, but we’ll have more details on how the rebuild will work on the map release.
PUBG New map release date?
The new map PUBG Taego is going to release July 7th 2021
Taego should be followed by a map with the code name “Kiki” later this year. The developer shared even less on this map, though the concept art attests to a near future with a dense urban landscape and incredible verticality.
