OnePlus 10 series will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, confirms CEO Pete Lau

Following the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset by Qualcomm, OnePlus has now appeared and announced that it will be one of the first phone manufacturers to launch a phone with the chipset. This was after Pete Lau of OnePlus confirmed on Weibo that the next generation of OnePlus phones will be equipped with a “new generation Snapdragon 8” chipset. Although Lau did not confirm the name of the device, it is expected that the device will be either OnePlus 10 or OnePlus 10 Pro.

This will be in line with the flagships that the company has previously launched and which are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship series processors. Earlier reports claimed that both of these phones may be unveiled in China first and will be launched globally at a later date. The OnePlus 10 series is expected to be the company’s flagship series for 2022 and is rumored to be launched in January or February.

This information has come from popular tipper Max Jambor, who claims that the OnePlus 10 Pro will be launched in China in January or February. Posts that the company will bring the device to the global markets sometime in March or April. If true, this means that there will be a gap of a few months between the launch in China and the global launch of the upcoming flagship OnePlus devices – which will be a first for the company. It will also stand in contrast to the company’s strategy in recent years, which has released OnePlus globally and in its home country of China at the same time. But this time around, it looks like OnePlus is looking to change things up a bit, especially when it is now teaming up with sister brand Oppo.

Interestingly, Oppo follows a similar launch cycle, where it first launches the products in China and after a few months they are released globally. OnePlus 10 Pro has previously been leaked in the initial prototype version. The OnePlus 10 Pro flaunts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers QHD+ (3216×1440 pixels) resolution and possibly supports a higher refresh rate of 120Hz or higher. According to OnLeaks, the thickness of the phone is 8.7mm and the absolute dimensions are 163.2mm x 73.6mm x 8.7mm, which is the same as the OnePlus 9 Pro.
