Qualcomm has announced the launch of the Snapdragon 870 5G SoC. The new chipset is the first to release two top-tier chipsets within a year after Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 888 in late 2020. It has already been confirmed that the Snapdragon 888 works on some flagship phones, including Mi 11. Both Xiaomi and Snapdragon are offered. 870 step-by-step improvements in performance, connectivity, and efficiency over Snapdragon 865+. This indicates that the new SoCs can be installed in the flagship value-focused smartphones that countless companies launch each year.
Snapdragon 870 5G Soc Features
In terms of specifications, the Snapdragon 870 is based on a 7nm processor architecture, unlike the Snapdragon 888 that relies on 5nm. However, you can take advantage of most of the features from the latter. Some of them shared with the flagship product last year. The core of its performance isn’t this year’s Kryo 680, but last year’s Kryo 585 running at a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz. The additional speed of 100MHz of the core helps to gradually improve the highest performance that smartphones based on this processor can provide.
Interestingly, in the GPU category, the Snapdragon 870 is a slight step up from the 865 Plus. The latter is powered by Adreno 660 (along with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming feature set). Which is also found on Snapdragon 888, and Snapdragon 870 is powered by Adreno 650 GPU. Other features include the previous generation Hexagon 698 processors that handle a myriad of tasks like background services and AI-based augmented reality processing. It also features an ultra-low power Qualcomm Sensing Hub with an emphasis on efficiency. And the Snapdragon X555G modem leads the disconnect.
The chipset supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB-C 3.1. It features 4K video at 120fps, 8K video at 30fps, a single 64MP camera without shutter lag (during buffer peaks), and the Spectra 480 ISP that supports sensors up to 200MP. I will. It also supports up to 4K displays with a response speed of 60Hz, or QHD + screens with a response speed of 144Hz, indicating support for a new generation of flagships. It comes with Quick Charge 4+ for fast charging and is NavIC compatible with countless geolocation features.
The company that comes with Snapdragon 870 5G Soc
At the time of the announcement, Qualcomm confirmed that the Snapdragon 870 5G SoC will be available in commercial devices by March 2021. OEMs that make smartphones based on these chipsets include Motorola, iQoo, OnePlus, Oppo, and Xiaomi. This basically confirms that in about two months. Smartphone enthusiasts around the world can expect top-tier smartphones from all or all OEMs in the coming weeks.
