What Is Encryption?
Encryption is the process of encryption that transforms data into a special code that makes it impossible for anyone to read or understand it. In cryptography, the original data is called plaintext, and when converted, it is called ciphertext.
Cryptography is used to protect data from unauthorized persons whose data is converted into unreadable formats. Unreadable format Format means that the original data is modified in a way that no one can understand.
Only anyone with a password or decryption key to access the encrypted data can access the encrypted data. That is, only authorized people can access the encrypted data.
End-to-end encryption meaning?
End-to-end encryption is the act of implementing encryption for a message on a device so that only the destination device can decrypt the message. The message travels from the sender to the recipient in an encrypted form.
How does end-to-end encryption work?
To understand how E2EE works, it helps to visualize the diagram. In the example below, Bob wants to greet Alice privately. Alice has two mathematically related encryption keys, a public key, and a private key. The public key can be shared with anyone, but only Alice has the private key.
First, Bob uses Alice’s public key to encrypt the message and translates “Hello Alice” into a ciphertext (scrambled, seemingly random characters).

Bob sends this encrypted message over the public Internet. Along the way, you can go through several servers, including your email service or Internet service provider. These companies may try to read the message (or share it with a third party), but it is not possible to convert ciphertext back into the readable ground. Only Alice can use the private key, so when it arrives in your inbox, only Alice can use it to do it. If Alice wants to respond, he simply repeats the process and uses Bob’s public key to encrypt the message to Bob.
Advantages of end-to-end encryption services
There are several advantages of E2EE over the standard encryption that most services utilize:
- It keeps your data safe from hacks. E2EE means that few parties have access to unencrypted data. Even if a hacker compromises the server where the data is stored (such as Yahoo Mail Hack), it cannot decrypt the data because it does not have the decryption key.
- It keeps your data private. If you are using Gmail, Google knows all the details entered in your email and if you can even delete it, you can save it. E2EE allows you to control the read message.
- It’s good for democracy. Everyone has the right to privacy. E2EE protects freedom of speech and threatens persecuted activists, opponents, and journalists.
How end to end encryption work in Whatsapp?
Personal Messaging
WhatsApp end-to-end encryption is used when chatting with others using WhatsApp Messenger. End-to-end encryption only allows you and the person you are communicating with to read and listen to what is sent, while no one leaves WhatsApp. This is because with end-to-end encryption, the message is locked and only the recipient and you have the special key needed to unlock and read the message. It all happens on its own. No special settings need to be turned on to protect the message.
Business Messaging
Each WhatsApp message is protected by the same signal encryption protocol that protects the message before leaving the device. When you send a message to your WhatsApp business account, the message is securely delivered to the destination of your choice.
WhatsApp considers chatting with companies that use WhatsApp Business App or manage customer messages and are end-to-end encrypted. After the message is received, it is subject to the company’s own privacy practices. Companies may specify multiple employees or other vendors to process and respond to messages.
Some companies can securely store their messages and reply to their customers to one WhatsApp parent company, Facebook. Facebook does not automatically use messages to notify you of displayed ads, but businesses can use chats they receive for their own marketing purposes, including ads on Facebook.
